Steve Schaar
Steve has been a part of the central Ohio music scene for over 40 years. He has worked with a wide variety of musicians throughout the midwest including the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, Dayton Jazz Orchestra, the Smothers Brothers, Vaudvillities, Five by Design, Rusty Bryant, Hank Marr, Gary Carney, Michelle Horsefield, Myron Floren, Artistic Jazz Orchestra, Dick Mackey, and Brian Michael Smith. He has been a member of Vaughn Wiester's Famous Jazz Orchestra since 2001 and has worked with guests including Bill Holman, John Fedchock, Jeff Hamilton, James Chirrilo, Jiggs Wigham, Ray Eubanks, Phil Wilson, and many others.
Steve graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in 1983 from the Conservatory of Music at Capital University, studying with Bob Breithaupt. Steve works for Kenda Tire as an Information Technology Manager. He also works for Specialty Turned Designs creating custom, handcrafted writing instruments.
Steve and his wife Jola have been married for 40+ years and live in Hilliard, Ohio with their cat Max. They enjoy spending time outdoors, going to concerts and festivals in the Ohio area, and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes.
