Ben Huntoon

Ben Huntoon recently retired after 30 years as the Jazz Education Consultant at Stanton’s Sheet Music in Columbus. He also served on the music faculty at Otterbein University for 15 years. Ben received degrees in music from Capital University and The Ohio State University. He is a contributing author for Teaching Music Through Performance in Jazz from GIA Publications.

As a professional musician, Ben has performed with numerous artists and on many stages throughout the country for over 40 years. Among the bands are the Columbus Jazz Orchestra, Vaughn Wiester’s Famous Jazz Orchestra, Glenn Miller Band, Tommy Dorsey Band, Guy Lombardo’s Royal Canadians, New Remnants Jazz Orchestra, The Rick Brunetto Big Band, Jazz To Go, Rob Parton Big Band and the HWE Jazz Ensemble. He has also performed in numerous pit orchestras for CAPA, among other theatrical companies.

Andrea Bocelli, Wayne Newton, Johnny Mathis, Don Henley, The Who, Barry Manilow and Natalie Cole are among the artists with whom he has performed.
