John Hall

John is a founding member of FJO and has played with the band regularly at all of their venues, dating back to the Olentangy Inn during the 1990s. Prior to moving to the Columbus area in 1987, he spent 8 1/2 years working as a professional trombonist in Las Vegas, working in house bands at the Hacienda, the MGM Grand, the Golden Nugget, and the Aladdin hotels. During that time he played for Sammy Davis Jr., Tom Jones, Wayne Newton, Lou Rawls, Lola Falana, Dionne Warwick, Mack Davis, Dottie West, Gladys Knight, Frank Gorshin, Frank Sinatra Jr., and others.

Besides FJO, John subs occasionally with The Rick Brunetto Big Band and the Dayton Jazz Orchestra. John has composed and arranged big band charts, one of which was performed by Stan Kenton, and another recorded by Carl Saunders on his 1999 CD "Be Bop Big Band".

John is recently retired after a 38 year career in the information technology industry as a software engineer. He has been married for over 40 years to his wife Audrey and has two grown daughters, both of whom live in Columbus.
